Qi Healing
Ancient Chinese energy healing for the 21st century

Qi-healing ("chee"-healing) is an ancient healing system that originated in China. It is based on the theory of Qi or energy which runs through energetic pathways in the body. Another name for Qi-healing is external qigong therapy. They indicate the same principle: using Qi - internal energy forces - for healing purposes. You can compare it to non-contact therapeutic touch, sometimes with light touching of certain points on the body.

In a healthy person, Qi naturally circulates through the body via energy channels and meridians. Sometimes, however, emotional stress and poor posture - and to a lesser degree other factors such as climate, diet & lack of exercise - can change the quality of the Qi into Binqi ("bean chee") or diseased energy. When Binqi doesn't get expelled in a natural way, it will stagnate and accumulate in certain areas. This will lead to discomfort, pain and eventually disease. Getting rid of Binqi is a key element in the healing process.

Healing sessions start with locating diseased energy in the body. The practitioner will meditatively tune in to you and move his hands around your body to feel the Qi. Then, Qi-healing techniques are used to expel the Binqi and to restore the natural Qi-circulation. This is usually done without physical contact, except for some techniques where light touching of the body on certain acupoints is required.

Sometimes, clients will learn easy-to-perform self-healing exercises to complement their treatment.

Most clients feel immediate relief of symptoms, which contributes largely to the popularity of this healing modality.
