Ayurveda & Yoga Therapy

Whether you are looking to start a new healthy routine, yoga practice or meditation journey, Be Well Living is here for YOU.  Together, we’ll begin with a 20 min. phone conversation, a health awareness questionnaire and schedule an in person wellness session. During your multilayer approach to wellness, our primary focus is looking through the root cause(s) of imbalances, as I meet you where you’re at in the present moment to help guide you back to a life of ease and balance.

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda translates to “Knowledge or Wisdom of Life” and is inspired by the rhythms of the natural world.  Ayurveda focuses on bringing the five elements (ether, air, fire, water, earth) into balance both internally and externally to bring about greater health and ease.  A well-crafted dinacharya (daily routine) is one of the most grounding, nurturing and powerful gifts you can give yourself, provided it is done in a way that’s truly supportive of the five elements and five bodies.  Exploring and living an Ayurveda lifestyle is being aware of what moves you out of balance and what brings you back into your natural state of balance.

Benefits of Ayurveda:

Ayurveda is one of the oldest healing practices that you can apply to your everyday life through simple awareness. The wonderful thing about Ayurveda is that it’s based on an individual’s wellbeing, it’s not a one size fits all approach.  Ayurveda is based on the balance of your body, mind and spirit through natural remedies, lifestyle changes and healthy seasonal eating.  Living an Ayurveda lifestyle through simple daily routines can support your health, balance, and self-transformation. Developing a well-crafted daily routine is one of the most grounding, nurturing and powerful gifts you can give yourself, provided it’s in a way that supports your natural state of balance.  According to the principles of Ayurveda, illness is caused by imbalances. Being aware of what moves you out of balance and what brings you back into balance improves your overall health and wellbeing.

Just a few ways that an Ayurveda Lifestyle can help you live a life of EASE:
  • Reduce stress and anxiety by maintaining balance in the body and mind.  Stress and anxiety will move you out of your state of balance.  An Ayurvedic routine such as breath awareness, meditation, self-massage, and yoga can help reduce stress and promote a life of ease.

  • Boosts your Immune System - Natural herbs and spices have immune-boosting properties and contain antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds that protect the body against infection and disease.

  • Promotes healthy digestion - Ayurveda can relieve digestive issues like constipation and bloating.  Ayurveda emphasizes the importance of healthy digestion by eating foods that bring you back into balance.

  • Improves Skin Health - Your skin is an extension of your digestive system.  Ayurvedic remedies can focus on promoting digestion to improve your skin health.  Practicing self-massage with herbal infused oil (abhyanga) has been found to improve skin texture and overall health.

  • Improves Sleep Quality - Sound sleep improves your brain performance, mood, and health. Following a balanced sleep routine and avoiding stimulating activities before bedtime can improve your quality of sleep and reduce sleep disorders like insomnia.

What is Yoga Therapy?

Yoga Therapy is a professional practice of yoga principles to promote health and wellbeing within a therapeutic relationship with yourself. Yoga therapy applies adaptable yoga poses, breath awareness, postural alignment, systematic relaxation, and meditation to address an individual’s needs through the five bodies (physical, energetic, mental, wisdom, spiritual self).  Students usually seek out yoga therapy not to only learn yoga, but to help with relief from some symptom(s) or health condition(s).  Practicing yoga therapy provides you with tools to create inner harmony and an opportunity to reconnect with your “whole”self.

Benefits of Yoga Therapy:

Yoga Therapy focuses on an individual’s health and wellness at all levels. It’s a healing journey that brings balance to all five bodies (physical, energetic, mental, wisdom, spiritual) through adaptable yoga techniques and more.  Every BODY comes onto their mat with different intentions.  Most practice Yoga Therapy for relief from some symptom or health condition that has moved them out of balance and disturbed their quality of life.  A personalized Yoga Therapy program is tailored to your goals and may include postures (asana), breathwork (pranayama), symbolic hand gestures (mudras), affirmations (mantras), Ayurveda practices, guided relaxation, and meditation.

Yoga Therapy can be helpful in providing the following:
  • Relief of chronic pain such as back and neck pain, arthritis, depression, anxiety, stress, fibromyalgia, PMS, headaches, insomnia, weight concerns.

  • A fulfilling way of exercising to naturally motivate you to stay and/or become fit.  An individualized Yoga Therapy session is a valuable addition to your regular yoga class to ensure you gain the most from your practice.

  • Improve your health by providing tools to deepen your overall self-awareness and increase your yoga experience to prepare you for meditation.

Practicing Yoga Therapy offers you the means to create inner harmony and an opportunity to reconnect with your “whole”self.
